Great Lakes NeuroTechnologies Releases KinesiaU Provider Portal Enabling Real-Time Remote Monitoring of Patients With Parkinson’s Disease

8 January 2021: Independence, OH – Great Lakes NeuroTechnologies (GLNT) announced today that it has released the KinesiaU™ provider portal for use with its smartwatch-based KinesiaU motor assessment system. First released in 2019, the KinesiaU motor assessment system [ www.KinesiaU.com ] enables patients with Parkinson’s disease to track their tremor, slowness, and dyskinesia in response to therapy using a smartwatch and smartphone app. User-friendly reports can help patients and clinicians make better care decisions and identify therapies and activities to improve their symptoms. Based on Great Lakes NeuroTechnologies’ 15 years of development and validation of its patented and FDA-cleared Kinesia™ technology, KinesiaU is the only validated system for real-time remote patient monitoring of Parkinson’s disease.

Dr. David E. Riley, movement disorder neurologist and Co-founder of the InMotion non-profit community center in Beachwood, OH, has used KinesiaU with many of his patients. “The KinesiaU system has helped me determine the effectiveness of changes I’ve made to my patients’ therapies and improved patient confidence,” Riley stated. “The addition of the provider portal will help me follow my patients in between their scheduled office visits, which could reduce the need for them to travel to my office and speed up the time needed to find an optimal therapy regimen.”

According to GLNT President and COO, Dustin Heldman, Ph.D., “We are very excited with this new product offering to complement our KinesiaU motor assessment system. Reducing office visits has become increasingly necessary in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and will likely remain an important part of patient care in the years to come.”

The KinesiaU motor assessment system is currently available in the US by prescription only.
